My name is Matt Howse, I’ve been tattooing for 21 years, and I work at Full Circle Tattoo in San Diego, CA. I found myself falling in love with tattooing the usual way I guess -getting tattooed, being a weirdo, drawing, painting most of my life…and after spending 10+ years trying to figure out how to become part of this magical world, I finally had a machine in my hand in 2001. I’ve worked in a bunch of shops, mostly around the SF Bay Area, before moving to San Diego in 2019. My work is firmly rooted and based entirely on traditional American and Japanese tattooing, and the direction it takes is constantly changing.. towards where? I don’t know. It’s just an ongoing thing. I’ve been honored to work with some of the most awesome humans and tattooers on the planet, and I’m grateful beyond words. The longer I tattoo, the more I can see what I’ll never know. Gotta love it. Gotta be obsessed with it.
